We take the commandment to "Love Thy Neighbor" very seriously. We do love our neighbors, neighborhood and community! We engage in a number of community outreach programs as host and run some events at the church.
Easter Egg Hunt
Of course the Easter season is a very special time for us at Horizon. During the Easter season, we enjoy giving back to our community with our annual Easter egg hunt. Typically held the Sunday before Easter, this hunt gives us a great chance to interact with our neighbors. The egg hunt is open to children of all ages, and there are always lots of good baked goods and coffee for everybody to enjoy!
The planning team outdid themselves the last few years, as they wanted to do something really special to introduce ourselves to our new neighborhood. A carnival atmosphere was created, with hot dogs, cotton candy, lots of baked goods, crafts, a magician, and of course, thousands of candy filled eggs! We need to say a big THANK YOU to the Allentown Fire Company, as they sent a ladder truck to our church building, and dropped eggs from high above!
Trick or Treat Night
Since 2008, Horizon has been setting up at table in our neighborhood to "Light the Night" during the annual Trick or Treat night. This is a great way for us to share God's love with our neighborhood through giving away candy, pop corn, glow sticks, cider, and hot coffee. It also gives a great chance for us to interact with hundreds of our neighbors in one fun evening!
Horizon does not exist in a vacuum. We are part of the body of Christ that extends all over the world. We have selected the following local ministries to come along side, and partner with.
