The teachers and helpers in the children's ministry program meet regularly for fellowship and prayer. During these meetings, the teachers and helpers spend time planning the program and praying for the children at Horizon Church.
Infants and toddlers (to age 2) are cared for in a safe and stimulating environment during the 10 am worship service.
Our nursery is staffed by a wonderful group of caring individuals. If you would like to learn more about how you can help out with the nursery at Horizon, please contact Ceil Purner.
kids' mission projects
In November 2016, the Sunday School classes (age 4-5th grade) packed 22 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. Operation Christmas Child provides gift-filled shoeboxes to children in need around the world. The Sunday school children followed where the boxes were delivered and spent time praying for the children who received the shoeboxes.
The November 2015 mission project benefitted the homeless in the Lehigh Valley. The Sunday school classes partnered with our Homeless Ministry Team to collect supplies for the winter months and assemble tote bags for the homeless.
In the spring of 2015, the children in the Sunday School classes, along with Horizon's youth group, completed a mission project to purchase 24 Bibles for The Caring Place. The Caring Place, located in Allentown, is a youth development center for children at risk. The mission project involved memorizing scripture verses in order to earn points towards the purchase of the Bibles.
In 2014, the children raised money to purchase Bibles for the Truth Home. The Truth Home is a therapeutic residential home located in the Lehigh Valley where survivors of sex trafficking and exploitation can begin to rebuild their lives through Biblical principles.
In 2013, the children participated in the "Loose Change to Loosen Chains" campaign associated with International Justice Mission (IJM). IJM works to rescue people around the world (many of them children) from the bonds of modern-day slavery. The children raised $1,400 for IJM.
